Course Description:
The FSS course is made up of two units of competency: Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures SITXOHS002A and Implement Food Safety Procedures SITXFSA001A, from the Tourism, Hospitality & Events Training Package SIT07. This FSS training course is recognised under the VET Quality Framework, ASQA & the NSW Food Authority. From 1 April 2011, the FSS became mandatory for food businesses in the hospitality and retail food service sectors in NSW.Assessment & completion standard:
Multiple choice / true or false / short answers online exam and workplace assessments (completed in a commercial kitchen). Students must achieve a mark of 95% or higher.
Certificates: Upon the successful completion of this FSS course, participants receive a Statement of Attainment from ATS. Students will also receive a FSS Certificate issued by the NSW Food Authority to comply with new regulations. This certificate must be registered with the NSW Food Authority and local council when issued.
Course Duration: Self-paced hours

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to handle food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service and disposal of food within a range of service industry operations. It requires the ability to follow predetermined procedures as outlined in an organisation food safety program.
